Who Must Use DSC on the GST Portal?

Digital Signature Certificates (DSC) are required for specific taxpayers to ensure high-level security and legal validity during the filing process.

The following entities are legally required to use DSC for all filings on the GST portal:

Companies: Includes Private Limited, Public Limited, and Unlimited companies.
Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs): All registered LLPs must sign via DSC.
Foreign Companies: Any foreign entity registered for GST in India.

For other taxpayers, DSC is optional, and they may choose to use the Electronic Verification Code (EVC/OTP) instead:

Follow these steps to link your digital signature to your GST profile:

Access the Portal: Visit the official GST website and log in using your GSTIN and credentials.
Navigate to Profile: Go to My Profile and select the Register / Update DSC option.
Prepare the Utility: Ensure the emSigner Utility is downloaded, installed, and running on your computer.
Connect Hardware: Plug your USB Token into your computer’s USB port.
Select Certificate: Choose your specific DSC certificate from the list that appears.
Authentication: Enter your USB token password and click Register DSC to complete the link.
